Posting again: Back to anime

No guarantees that this is more than a one off thing...not that anyone actually freakin' reads this blog.  But I've recently watched a few more animes of late, plus some that I watched awhile back that never made it on the first list.  Time to update the list:  Now with note on which language I watched. Generally if I watched with my roommates it was dubbed, by myself, subbed.
Upper Tier:
Fate/Stay Night:  Just simply a well crafted show.  Amazing artwork and wonderful character designs.  Sabre and Rin were just gorgeous.  Rin is a fascinating character and the story in general is interesting. The revelation of Sabre's identiny is not one to see coming in advance.  Easier to figure out who Archer is than guess Sabre's before they tell you.  The main character grows as the story progresses and actually becomes more competent.  The ending, though sad, was very well crafted.  One of the best endings I've ever seen.  There is simply a lot of good in this show.  (Dub)

Crest of the Stars:  I love me some Lafiel.  Her attitude, her competence, and her charm carry this show for me.  She's definetly up with Utena (and maybe now Rin...though I'm a little reluctant to throw Rin in with the other two.  Rin's good, but Utena and Lafiel are sheer concentrated awesome.) with my favorite Anime females. (Sub)

Middle Tier:
Elfen Lied:  Good show, not extraordinary.  Bloody as hell.  I don't really have a lot to say.  (Dub)

Serial Experiments Lain:  I'm tempted to put this in the bottom tier.  I stayed in through the end, but I was only vaguely interested the whole way.  Kind of ultimately disappointed.  I expected more.  (Dub)

Banner of the Stars (I): It's still Lafiel, but that is all this has.  Her and Jinto's relationship isn't developing as much as I had hoped.  The story taking place here isn't anything close to as interesting as Crest.  So slow that I'm slow to move onto Banner II.  Very, very disappointing. (Sub)

Trinity Blood: A few vaguely cool characters?  Several really lame ones?  No real ending?  Nothing really fascinating?  Ultimately very middle of the road.  Not a fan, but not a horrible way to spend time.  (Dub)

Bottom Tier:

Knight Hunters:  Watched before the last list went up.  So bad I erased it from my mind.  Best part about the show?  The outtakes where the guy giving out the missions made shit up.  So awful I'm not even 100% sure this was the name of the show.

Currently we're watching Moon Phase.  So far it is heading solidly into Medium tier territory.

1 So how was Elfen Lied's dub?  I have the show, but I've never bothered to fire up the dub.

2 Keep in mind this is me trying to use my memory which isn't great.  But overall I thought it was adequate.  I don't remember ever writhing in pain over it, but I do not think it was particularly good either.

3 Sorry for the necromancy, but I just discovered your blog.

I thought the dub for Elfen Lied was one of the better ones.  Sure, it's horribly over the top, but so was the series so it balanced out.  It's one of the few shows I actually prefer to watch in dub.

In particular, I really liked Yuka.  She was far better in dub.

4 Not an issue.  I'm happy whenever I get a comment.  Which is, obviously enough, very rare.

And yeah, you may be right.  I'd have to watch the show again to be sure.  And there are so many other shows vying for my attention that it may not happen for awhile.
